CABWI Confined spaces High Risk

Overview:
This course is designed for individuals that work in spaces classed as high risk and below. This could be a confined space that has a specified risk that will be present whilst the work is being carried out and other risk associated with high risk confined spaces.

AIMs:
To provide delegates with the knowledge and practical experience to enable them to work safely in a high risk confined space

Agenda:

  • Define what constitutes a confined space and outline its key characteristics.
  • Identify the specific risks that may be present in confined space environments.
  • Understand regulatory responsibilities, including measures to eliminate or reduce the need for entry.
  • Carry out comprehensive risk assessments and recognise potential hazards.
  • Examine atmospheric dangers such as harmful gases and oxygen depletion.
  • Learn the principles of gas monitoring and the correct operation of detection devices.
  • Apply safe working procedures, including the use of permits to work.
  • Clarify the roles and responsibilities of personnel involved in confined space operations.
  • Establish effective communication methods to maintain safety and coordination.
  • Inspect and correctly use tripods, winches, and fall protection systems.
  • Check and operate breathing apparatus safely, including emergency escape sets and self‑contained units.

Attendance:
Full attendance of the course is mandatory to achieve a pass.

Entry Requirements:
Delegates must be competent in English at an operative level. The course content is suited to all ability levels.
Photographic ID will be requested by the tutor at the start of the course (e.g. Driving Licence/Passport).
Delegates must be at least 16 years old.
PPE – Please bring your own PPE, including helmet, gloves, hi-vis clothing, and steel-toe boots.

Learner Numbers:
The maximum number of delegates per course is 12. This is a requirement of the awarding body and are not subject to appeal.
