Course Description
This course will suit delegates who have previously passed the Streetworks Operative training which expires after 5 years. This refresher course provides delegates with the vital skills and up to date knowledge for safe and efficient work on public highways. This training promotes a safety-oriented environment by emphasising correct procedures, conducting risk assessments, and using suitable equipment.
Aims & Agenda
The NRSWA course aims to provide Operatives with:
- Essential reassessment that is mandatory when renewing a Street Works qualification after 5 years.
- Reassessment can be taken up to 6 months prior to the expiry or up to 6 months after the expiration of your registered card.
Agenda
- Risks associated with striking underground apparatus
- Recognising the signs of underground services and interpreting utility plans
- Using tools to locate underground structures
- Marking services ready for excavation
- An awareness of signing, lighting, and guarding the workplace and the erection of temporary traffic signals
- Methods of excavation, safety measures, and the use of road drills, etc., and how to support utility apparatus within the excavation
- Selection and storage of excavated materials for re-use
- Placing and compaction of backfill and sub-base materials
- Laying and compaction of cold-lay bituminous materials
- Theory and Practical Assessments
Attendance/ Who Should Attend
Full attendance of the course is mandatory to achieve a pass.
This course is for delegates who reinstate roadways in line with the 2nd Edition Specification for reinstatement of openings in the Highway and the New Roads and Streetworks Act 1991 (NRWSA), revised 2002 Code of Practice.
New Roads and Street Works (NRWSA) training is compulsory for anyone who may be involved in working on and adjacent to the public highways.
Entry Requirements
The NRSWA Streetworks Operatives Reassessment Course requires delegates to have a good understanding of spoken and written English. Photographic ID will be requested by the tutor at the start of the course, i.e., Driving Licence/Passport.
Learner Numbers
The minimum number of delegates per course is 4. The maximum number of delegates per course is 8. These are a requirement of the awarding body and are not subject to appeal.
This course can also be delivered as an unaccredited course if required.
